Viviana + Andy Mommy and Me Session

I cant believe that I have been in business for 8 years now. Most of you know my story of how I started, but to recap for those of you that dont, I started photography in the family/children genre and have progressed since to many other fields. I still shoot with families but no longer do cake smash sessions.

Mommy and me shoots hold a special place in my heart! I feel like as mom's we forget we need to get in front of the camera with our kiddos too. We don't always need to be the ones that take the pictures. Funny, coming from a mom tog herself. I started taking less selfies with my daughter, and more professional sessions with her as well. She will only be so small for so long, and my hope is that she will still love to take pictures with me as she grows older.

This is the perfect way for you to cherish those memories with your little one for years to come. It sounds like a nightmare to get them ready and have them smile but it doesnt have to be that hard! With the right photographer, and even a nap or a snack, kids will usually cooperate. Mommy and me sessions can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and I promise you wont regret it!

Viviana follows me on instagram @arodriguezphoto and saw some of my work. She emailed me that she wanted to do a session with her son. It took many dates to reschedule because of things coming up or not working out but I am so glad we got to shoot together in the end! She also came to my studio prior to get her hair and makeup done by my resident artist, Crystal Zarazua, make sure you follow her work at @crisjennmakeup on Instagram! Here are some of my favorite shots from her session...

Now I'm gonna be honest with y'all. Andy did not make it easy on me. He gave me a run for my money, literally! I had to chase him and tickle him and make funny noises to get hi to smile. But, guess what that's part of my job! That's why you hire a professional. Someone that is experienced with shooting with families and kids. That knows how to get them to smile for the camera and not look super posed. These genuine laughs and smiles are what makes the session so worth it momma. No matter how much you're dreading it. No matter how much they kick and scream. But, if you are going to schedule a shoot, make sure they're fed, or have napped prior. When I say that, its for both our benefit!
